After a string of solo underground house releases and remixes in the UK, the latest project from London based house DJ & producer, Layers of Sound, A.K.A. Mike Newstead (Doubleshock, Queep Organic House, Lowered, Refunkt & Mettle Music Records), is an exciting new collaboration with the hugely talented vocal collective, “The Demetrios Project”.

The Demetrios Project, brainchild of singer songwriter Demetrios (MN2S Records), brings together the powerful vocal talents of Bilonda Mfunyi-Tshiabu (Neon State Records & the London Community Gospel Choir) and the sultry tones of Helene diamond, to great effect.

With original and inspirational lyrics, this unique package packs some punch, blending influences from a diverse range of musical and cultural backgrounds. Drawing from a melting pot of genres, including Soul, Gospel, Funk and Jazz, to name but a few, this project moulds it all together in the form of infectious house grooves aimed to get you moving!

From distant starting points, ranging from Cambridge to Cyprus, West Africa to The West Indies, Mike, Demetrios, Bilonda and Helene’s worlds collided in London in the autumn of 2005, and this promising new alliance was quickly formed.

With many awesome productions in the pipeline, the first to be completed is “Mission”, a powerful catchy funky pop house track, described by Russell Deeks of IDJ Magazine as “…a well produced, strong song, with good quality vocals and commercial 'Hed Kandi' potential”.
